The Lotus Method is more
than
just another workout

The Lotus Method is led by a team of pre/post
natal experts, trained to teach mothers to
care for themselves, with as much love and
intentionality as they use to care for their children.

Meet Caitlin!

Founder and Visionary Behind The
Lotus Method

The Lotus Method was started back in 2014 by founder,
Caitlin Ritt. She had been working for 5 years as the Pre/
Postnatal Master Trainer at SCLA (now Equinox). After
working with hundreds of pre/postnatal clients in a one-on-
one personal training setting, she noticed the lack of
guidance and support surrounding exercise and recovery
for both her prenatal and postpartum clients were being
given and knew mothers deserved better.

It also became very clear to her that every pregnancy and
postpartum journey is unique, and what one woman
needed could be completely different from the next. So, she
set out to create a one-on-one personal training experience
exclusively for prenatal and postnatal women.

Our methodology and practices have
helped thousands of women feel safe,
strong and empowered in their bodies
as they transition into motherhood

At the time The Lotus Method was created Caitlin was not yet a mother herself. The Lotus Method
was created not through her own needs, but by being
deeply in touch with those of her many clients over the
years. Ultimately, she created The Lotus Method for you.

That being said, after almost 15 years of working with this demographic Caitlin is thrilled to be expecting her first in September 2023.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A PRE/ POSTNATAL EXERCISE SPECIALIST?

I became a Pre/Postnatal Exercise Specialist after going through my first pregnancy and postpartum journey and really felt the lack of resources and education around movement. I didn’t feel like women should have to go into this incredible journey feeling lost and confused to potentially end up in more pain, creating further issues, or simply not feeling like the strongest most capable version of themselves. So I left VIP Hospitality to dive head first into Pre/Postnatal movement, birth doula work, and birth prep and education and haven’t looked back!

WHAT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST ABOUT OUR CLIENTELE OF BADASS WOMEN?

I love that our bad ass clients show up for themselves. So much of our pre/postnatal journeys revolve around finding and prioritizing time for our own care and this is a way they can show up for themselves. Training with intention, giving ourselves grace, and finding strength through all the phases can be so empowering and just by walking through that door, I’m immediately inspired and grateful to work with these women.

I listen to EVERYTHING and love music so much, but I have to go with my forever happy song – the one I put on when I need to boost my mood – Rusted Root, Send Me On My Way.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A PRE/ POSTNATAL EXERCISE SPECIALIST?

I’ve always found being a personal trainer extremely rewarding. I love the connections that you make with your clientele and the mental growth you see them go through over the course of your journey together.  As humans, especially women, we are so much more than our bodies. I find there to be an extra special meaning to working with this demographic of women. Being along for the ride of such a pivotal life event, helping prepare their bodies for the most intense experience of their life, and all of the wonders of motherhood to follow is nothing short of incredible.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST ABOUT OUR CLIENTELE OF BADASS WOMEN?

It takes so much energy to juggle all of life’s responsibilities. To prioritize yourself in the midst of the chaos, all while setting a positive example for your children from the very start of their life is extremely inspiring to me.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A PRE/ POSTNATAL EXERCISE SPECIALIST?

There are a few reasons I became a pre/postnatal exercise specialist. It started with my group fitness career and wanting to have information for my pre/postnatal moms, keep them moving safely in class. After having my first baby, I dove deeper into the educational side of training for pre/postnatal to start helping educate others on a deeper level. Then I found this dream job at The Lotus Method!

WHAT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST ABOUT OUR CLIENTELE OF BADASS WOMEN?

Our clients’ ambition to put themselves first and move is so inspiring! They show up and challenge themselves to get stronger mentally and physically for birth and motherhood.

I wanted to become a pre/postnatal exercise specialist because I wanted to help equip Mamas all over with the education and tools they need, (but don’t often get) to become better versions of themselves inside and out.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST ABOUT OUR CLIENTELE OF BADASS WOMEN?

What inspires me most about working with our clientele of badass women is that everyday I get to work with some of the most resilient, determined, and hard working Mamas out there.  It’s no secret that motherhood requires lots of love, patience, and grace to manage life’s daily tasks. Being able to see the real, raw, and sometimes the most vulnerable versions of themselves overcome and fight to become a stronger person is what keeps me falling in love with this community.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A PRE/ POSTNATAL EXERCISE SPECIALIST?

After working in a physical therapy clinic I very quickly became aware of how underserved the pre/
postnatal community was. Women who were trying to conceive, pregnant, and postpartum were
seeking out help and guidance in navigating their motherhood journey. The healthcare professionals
did not have the time or resources to be able to provide them the one-on-one attention they needed.
Being able to empower women and help support them through their journey is something that I could
only have dreamed of. The Lotus Method has allowed me to help women not feel alone through this
challenging time in their lives, and I love being able to continue supporting them!

WHAT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST ABOUT OUR CLIENTELE OF BADASS WOMEN?

Their priority to take care of themselves! Our clients run the world, from stay at home moms to CEO’s
these women’s schedules are packed! Yet they still prioritize taking the time to invest in themselves.
Literally running from a meeting straight into an exercise circuit is not uncommon for our mom’s. They
carve out an hour to focus on their strength, their mental health, and their happiness!

WHY DID YOU BECOME A PRE/ POSTNATAL EXERCISE SPECIALIST?

Ever since attending holistic nutrition school and wanting to become a mom myself, prenatal and postnatal women have been very near my heart. During these childbearing years, mothers bodies and minds need more specific attention. Whether it’s eating a whole foods diet to nourish a growing baby or getting stronger to pick up carseats and strollers, our needs change as we become moms. I count it a privilege to be able to help women on their prenatal and postpartum journeys.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST ABOUT OUR CLIENTELE OF BADASS WOMEN?

Most of these moms work full-time jobs as well as being amazing mothers, and they still priotize their health by working out with us!  As a mom and part-time worker, I often find it hard to prioritize exercising. I’m always so inspired by these badass women, and as a result, I make sure to carve time for myself to exercise!

An instructor once said that as a society we’ve treated pregnant women as if they were sick or disabled, when we should really be training them for a marathon. This revelation made me want to be a part of a changing tide in women’s health. To help them connect to their own bodies and prepare them for the marathon ahead.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST ABOUT OUR CLIENTELE OF BADASS WOMEN?

The way they move through the milestones and challenges and navigate a variety of new phases of their lives, whether it be their first pregnancy or raising three kids. WHY DID YOU BECOME A PRE/ POSTNATAL EXERCISE SPECIALIST?

I became a pre/postnatal specialist after my 3rd pregnancy due to the fact that I had gone through my pregnancy and postpartum periods and saw the lack of knowledge that women had in regards to fitness training. After dealing with some back pain of my own due to an unresolved diastasis, I really dove into learning how to properly breathe and engage muscles that would support me in my postpartum period. Mom’s deserve so much more than what most are taught about their bodies in the pregnancy and postpartum period and I love teaching them!

WHAT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST ABOUT OUR CLIENTELE OF BADASS WOMEN?

That they show up and continue to train throughout their pregnancies to stay strong as well as in their postpartum period. Making the time to get some movement in during their busy day shows their commitment to staying healthy which is so important as a mom!

How can I just choose one! River by Leon Bridges or Ritual Union by Little Dragon.Honestly, I don’t know. Who has time for music with 2 kids?! Ha! I listen to podcasts or audiobooks when I have time by myself. However, I do listen to a lot of kid music! If you haven’t heard of Casper Babypants, do yourself and your baby a favor and listen to it! It’s the best kid music by far, and I actually enjoy listening to it myself.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A PRE/ POSTNATAL EXERCISE SPECIALIST?

An instructor once said that as a society we’ve treated pregnant women as if they were sick or disabled, when we should really be training them for a marathon. This revelation made me want to be a part of a changing tide in women’s health. To help them connect to their own bodies and prepare them for the marathon ahead.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST ABOUT OUR CLIENTELE OF BADASS WOMEN?

The way they move through the milestones and challenges and navigate a variety of new phases of their lives, whether it be their first pregnancy or raising three kids. The way they are taking this small time for themselves and oftentimes it’s more for their family, so that they can keep up with their kids.

WHY DID YOU BECOME A PRE/ POSTNATAL EXERCISE SPECIALIST?

I’ve always had a passion for exercise and the positive impact it can have on individuals in all stages of life. Through supporting my family and friends with pregnancies, I learned how crucial it is for women to exercise safely and effectively before and after birth. My fire is lit and I found my calling to boost all mamas and babies well-being.

What inspires you the most about our clientele of
      badass women?

Their priority to take care of themselves! Our clients run the world, from stay at home moms to CEO’s
these women’s schedules are packed! Yet they still prioritize taking the time to invest in themselves.
Literally running from a meeting straight into an exercise circuit is not uncommon for our mom’s. They
carve out an hour to focus on their strength, their mental health, and their happiness!

If you had to listen to one song on repeat for the
rest of your days – what would it be?

How can I just choose one! River by Leon Bridges or Ritual Union by Little Dragon.
